The 20'ties are the new young horse era
Do you know this feeling? You get an old horse and you think to yourself, that the older horse must act kind of like an old horse. You know relaxing and not wanting to do much? Well that's what I thought I would get, when I bought Miss G. But boy was I wrong!
When I bought her she was 19 and turned 20 in may that following year. In the beginning she was kind of slow. Not having that much energy or willing to work that much. But it changed a little bit, when I first hopped on her after a year of not riding her. She was so happy and just walking on like that's all she's done her whole life, and didn't just have a year off.
Now a year and a half later, I will defitely say she has been awaken. She has gotten so much energy and even though she just turned 21 years old, you really can't tell! In her behavior she acts like she's 5! I mean she has blossomed so much and really gotten full of life. She has always acted like she was younger then she was, but not this much! In her riding carrier, she is at a level like a young horse. She's getting to learned it all from the beginning and how to used her body in a better way. I have to say she has really improved alot in that 1,5 years I have had her.
So now her riding carrier match her attitude. A day last week I was lunging her, so she could get some excersize. I havent been riding her much since my broken wrist and getting the cast of. The weather has been absolut horrible with loads of rain and almost stormy weather and wind! Of course this happens just as I get the cast off, while it has been amazing weather when having the cast on. Anyway so I was lunging her and trying to get her to canter. I don't really know what happend, but she got upset and actually reared! I mean it wasent that high, but still. I was like "You're 21 not 5!" . I do want to say I don't mean that horses should rear, and I actually think she got surpriced by it her self.
She was almost like impossible in the stable! Not wanting to stand still. Though she calmed a bit down, when I gave her little massage! I think she really likes that! Yeah so when I bought a 19 year old horse and actually got a 5 year old, a year and a half later..
Love Maggie ❤
